Description including Unit Aims

The module is directed toward the task of revealing the historical development and justification for regulations, the extent of regulatory control and to give a clear picture of the firm's responsibilities. Delegates are encouraged to adopt attitudes toward quality and safety to enhance existing attitudes to technical disciplines. On completion of the module and assignment work, the delegates should be able to: Discuss the breadth of design and manufacture for which airworthiness affects requirements; Understand the processes available to the manufacturer for showing compliance; Draw up a programme of such processes for a significant vehicle component; Consider regions of engineering beyond those now familiar, e.g. implications of airworthiness restrictions on engine manufacture, small aircraft, military aircraft etc; Show a new understanding of the significance of carefully worded regulations.
