This unit will examine the later period of Roman Britain from AD200-500. It will examine the boom in villa building; the construction of urban defences in the 3rd and 4th centuries; the economic boom of the early fourth century and discuss the nature of threats to the security of the province. It will also assess the nature and quality of the evidence for the collapse of Roman Britain in the 5th century and the impact of Christianity in Britain.
