This unit introduces students to the archaeology of the Phoenician and Iberian civilisations in the western Mediterranean from 1200 BC to the Second Carthaginian War of 217 BC. It examines the process of cultural assimilation and colonisation, and how new technologies promoted industrial production and urbanisation. Assessed partly by coursework and partly by an exam.
