Description including Unit Aims

This unit examines the evidences for understanding the subsistence and settlement practices of human societies from the early Holocene to the post-Medieval period, across a range of geographic zones (uplands, lowlands, wetlands, etc.). It enables landscape and environmental evidence to be considered in detail, and explores critically the way changing traditions of agricultural practice, tenure and settlement have shaped the landscape.
