This unit will introduce research methodology as it wil be encountered by professionals working in healthcare and rehabilitation settings, both from the point of view of analysing other research work and of conducting their own research skills. As well as presenting the theoretical underpinnings of research methodology, the unit will provide examples of qualitative and quantitative studies for critical analysis. It will also provide a framework for the inclusion of case studies and action research within the remit of a rehabilitative audiologist. On the basis of these analyses the participants wil be guided towards the construction of their own research project, with tutorial work deisned to produce a written project proposal.
