This unit is designed to equip qualified audiologists with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide an inclusive service for clients with additional needs.
Aims:
To enable audiologists to extend their service to meet the needs of a wider and more complex group of patients. These would include patients with intellectual disability, deaf-blindness, dementia and stroke.
Participants will demonstrate an understanding of:
Participants will be taught through lectures, small group work and peer-led seminars.
Participants will identify a client with additional needs and prepare a course portfolio case study, which would demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the rehabilitative techniques appropriate to this individual. This would include a full case history and identify appropriate diagnostic and rehabilitative packages, with reference to assessment and outcome measures. (4000 words).
