This unit extends the areas of organic chemistry relevant to advanced study of Chemistry with Environmental Science given in CHEM 20420 e.g. reaction mechanisms, synthetic uses of inorganic elements, asymmetric synthesis, heterocyclic chemistry, biosynthesis and the chemistry of carbohydrates. The unit includes trouble shooting workshops and practical sessions.
