The dissertation is designed to offer a culmination to the course. The unit offers three assessment options: 1) Working either individually or in groups, students will generate and complete a documentary project for public exhibition, and support this with appropriately advanced individual analysis (5000 words); 2) Undertake a professional attachment which meets the requirements of the Department for industrial placements and which becomes the basis for a substantial reflective analysis (5000 words); 3) Students following a research pathway will produce a dissertation that may compromise practice-as-research accompanied by a research essay (5000 words). Productions may take a variety of forme, e.g. moving image, web, interactive, etc. The exact title, scale and asize of each piece of work will be negotiated through supervision. In every case the work will be expected to meet the requirements of summative masters level work according to the aims of the programme for which it is submitted.
