This unit will enable students registered on the MSc in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) programme to pursue a topic of interest and relevance to them and their working context with the support of individual supervision. The learning in this unit will be effected through self-directed learning, and should include a literature review, and an application of the knowledge thus generated in either an empirical research study, or a proposal for pedagogic action. The specific assessment criteria will derive from a written detailed proposal agreed by the student and the supervising tutor.
