The student shall undertake an advanced and substantial piece of original research involving in-depth enquiry into an aspect of the systems engineering with direct relevance to industry and which extends the forefront of a discipline. The student shall be responsible for the creation of the research strategy and methodology, for the undertaking of the research, for the writing of a thesis that reports and interprets the results, and shall defend the work in a viva voce examination.
