Some major authors of the 16th and 17th centuries are studied: poets - e.g. Wyatt, Spenser, Sidney, Donne, Jonson, Herbert, Cowley, Marvell, Milton, Rochester, Dryden; dramatists - e.g. Marlowe, Shakespeare, Jonson, Webster, Middleton; prose writers - e.g. Sidney, Bacon, Bunyan.
