The Independent Study Project Unit provides students with an opportunity to undertake supervised research on an approved subject leading to the presentation of a report which may take the form of an extended essay (5,000 words) or practical investigation of a topic which may include the technical or material study of art or architecture, conservation, museum or gallery practice, or the historic environment drawing on the direct experience and observation of monuments or works of art in Florence and its environs. This unit is offered through the History of Art Study Abroad Programme in Florence.
