History of Art Single Honours students may elect to substitute a Dissertation for 2 units (40 credits) in the final year. The subject of a dissertation will normally be provisionally registered at the end of the second session, and must be formally confirmed and approved by the supervising tutor and head of department at the beginning of the final year. Students undertaking a dissertation are assigned an adviser who is responsible for giving guidance in research and writing and who monitors progress during the year. Detailed guidance on presentation is issued.
