Description including Unit Aims

This unit is the continuation of Mandarin Chinese 1 for students registered on the Msc East Asian Studies and enables students to build on their existing language competence acquired in term 1. Particular emphasis will be placed on the skills necessary for effective oral and written communication in the target language at an intermediate level. This unit also includes general communication skills, extension of more complex grammatical structures, development of knowledge of the vocabulary used in everyday language, consolidation and further development of the use and meaning of characters, general and academic listening and speaking skills and further exposure to cultural and social aspects of the language.
