Description including Unit Aims

This unit examines the UN's legal and institutional setting. The specific topics addressed can vary from year to year, in response to topical developments, but will include such matters as the aims and purposes of the UN, its main organs and their competences, legal personality, membership, international responsibility, collective security. The aim of this unit is to provide a critical overview of the law and practice of the United Nations.
