This is an advanced Jurisprudence unit for undergraduates who wish to study legal theory in greater depth in their final year. Eight topics will be selected from the following ten in any one year: liberal theory today; developments in democratic theory; governmentality; economic theory of law; developments in private law; exclusive and inclusive legal positivism; law and language; semiotics of law; law as practical reason; the autonomy of law.
