Description including Unit Aims

This unit has two objectives. One is to consider certain aspects of general contract law in relation to contractual strategy and planning, how contracts are made and enforced as well as dispute settlement. The second aim is to consider in some detail the law relating to construction contracts. These are of particular interest both because of the great size and commercial importance of the construction industry, and also because most transactions are made on standard printed contracts which are devised by neither of the parties but have quasi-legislative force. Students must have already studied Contract Law in a common law jurisdiction. (This need not be England).
