Description including Unit Aims

The first half of the course would concentrate on French of the 12th and 13th centuries looking at basic grammar and the different challenges presented by different genres. The language would be approached through an examination of texts. The second part of the course would include some consideration of the peculiarities of Anglo-Norman, an important dialect of Old French, and the development of Old French into the Middle French period, up to the fifteenth century.
