Issues in the Philosophy of Fiction In this unit we will be concerned with four related issues that arise out of our engagement with, and consumption of, fiction. Although our focus will be primarily on issues in aesthetics and the philosophy of literature, some of the issues we consider have potentially much wider ramifications in so far as they bear upon certain forms of fictionalism in metaphysics. And I will conclude by drawing some (I think largely negative) conclusions about the prospects for certain currently fashionable varieties of fictionalism.
