This unit builds on the condensed matter parts of Core Physics 302 and 303 (PHYS30020 and PHYS30030) and introduces more advanced topics of condensed matter physics. These include Lattice dynamics and lattice thermal properties, the ideal Bose gas, the Van der Waals gas, the concept of phase transitions, and Landau's theory of phase transitions.
