This unit, like Mathematical Methods 306, is about mathematics for physicists. The aim is to extend the range of mathematical tools available to the practising physicist. The techniques are developed by a series of examples rather than by setting out the formal theory at length. The course covers the following topics: Calculus of Variations, Asymptotics, Partial Differential Equations (P.D.E.) and Green Functions.
