Description including Unit Aims

This unit will consider the relationships between developmental research and pedagogic theory and practice, including metaphors of learning and teaching. Particular topics will include: the status of Stage Theory and neo-Piagetian approaches; the development of memory and meta-memory; Individual Differences in development such as Very High Ability and the concept of high ability. This unit consists of 12 x 1-hour lectures plus one 1-hour tutorial. It has a compulsory essay.
