Description including Unit Aims

This unit focuses on disorders of normal development during childhood which result in disruptions of communicative function. Disorders studied will include hearing impairments, specific language impairment autism, dyslexia, and hyperactivity deficit. The unit will adopt a primarily cognitive approach, with particular emphasis on the theoretical analysis of the disorders. This unit consists of twelve 1-hour lectures and one 1-hour tutorial. It has one compulsory essay.
