Description including Unit Aims

The subject of this Unit is Judaism in all its major aspects - historical, religious, and literary - over the centuries, from the Second Temple period until today. Jewish history, religion, and literature are surveyed in ten lectures, including the screening of a video entitled Sorry, Judas. To facilitate this overview, Jewish history is divided into four useful blocks: I: the Second Temple period (circa 515 BCE - 70 CE); II: the Talmudic period (circa 70 - 875 CE); III: the Medieval period (circa 875 - 1750 CE); and IV: the Modern period (circa 1750 to the present).
