Description including Unit Aims

In curriculum year 4 of the BVSc programme the course in Pathology is completed and three courses in Clinical Veterinary Science are started, which will be completed in Year 5 of the programme. Pathology - Pathology of skin, mammary gland, musculoskeletal system, endocrine system, pancreas, alimentary system, liver. Veterinary Public Health - Approaches to food production (primarily of animal origin), hygenie and food safety and the benefits to animal well-being, human health and environmental protection. Clinical Veterinary Science - Management and diseases of farmed ruminants, diseases (medical and surgical conditions) of horses, dogs, cats, exotic species, children's pets, management and diseases of reproduction in domestic animals (including obstetrics), elective project, veterinary public health, abattoir practice, epidemiology and state veterinary medicine. Extramural clinical experience will continue.
