Description including Unit Aims

The unit covers the Bronze Age and Iron Age periods from 2,500BC to 55BC. This unit will examine the origins and developments of copper and bronze working technologies and will pay particular attention to the impact this has on social, economic and ritual frameworks of Bronze Age Society. The significance and interpretation of the Beaker phenomenon will form the introduction to the unit. Additional themes will include morphology, location and burial practice. The Iron Age component will deal with the development of hill forts, landscape settlement patterns and burial practice.
