This course aims to give students a broad understanding of some of the most important issues in the development of the study of 20th century conflict archaeology. It will offer students a comprehensive introduction to the new sub-discipline, provide a theoretical and empirical description and analysis of a broad range of archaeological and anthropological approaches to the study of the recent past in time of war, from landscapes of confilct and commemoration to excavation of human remains, the identification of people's lives in artefacts, and the presentation of global wars in film, in museums, and a heritage.
