Description including Unit Aims

This unit covers a range of topics in cell biology, for example, protein synthesis and degradation, the biochemistry of the immune system, phagocytic blood cells, chemotaxis and muscle contraction. The unit includes a supporting programme of practical classes and Directed Self Education (up to five sessions). An assessed essay on a topic covered in the lectures contributes 10% of the marks for this unit, and the five unit practicals contribute 5%.
