This unit is the preparation of a written the report of a field course or laboratory workshop attended as part of the degree programme. Students attend the field course or laboratory workshop for approximately a week during or at the end of their second year of study. The courses are led by academic staff from the School, and connected with their own research areas. Some are residential in Field Centres abroad or in the UK. Some involve intensive field work in the Bristol area, and some are laboratory based in the School. After the course the students submit written reports, the assessment of which form the unit mark. Details vary from course to course and may include an element of oral presentation. Requirements are set out in the unit handbook available when the students make their choices.
