By the end of this unit, successful students will: have developed an awareness of the literature of landslides; be able to examine geological features in the field and undertake basic geological mapping; be able to examine and investigate landslides in the field; understand the geotechnical requirements in the design of embankment dams; understand the principles of stability analysis and be able to apply them to landslides and embankment dams.
