Description including Unit Aims

This unit aims to provide students who have neither Mathematics nor Physics at A level with the necessary background in these subjects for the Honours Programmes in Chemistry. The unit covers the kinetic theory of gases, heats of reaction, calorimetry, kinetics of reactions, ions in solution and electrochemistry, the electromagnetic spectrum and wave properties. The necessary elementary algebra and calculus is taught within the unit. The Physics and Mathematics components of the course are supported by lectures linking topics to those in the Chemistry 1A (CHEM10100) unit, and by workshops and practical sessions.
