The aim of this unit is to develop and reinforce students' skills in the reading of ancient Latin, and to introduce them to the comparative practical criticism of classical texts. By reading two texts, students will consider a number of contemporary theoretical perspectives relevant to the interpretation of these texts, including genre, narratology and epistolarity.
