The aim of the this unit will be to explore a number of aspects of Greek and Roman mythology, using a variety of texts and images as source material. Our thematic focus will be on the relationships between gods and humans as portrayed in mythology. Issues which we shall examine include: how myths have been and are being interpreted; Greek and Roman myths and myth-telling in their ancient contexts; detailed considerations of a few myths in a variety of retellings and interpretations.
