Description including Unit Aims

Using the Parthenon sculptures as a key example, this unit will ask why we think about ancient art in these terms but its real focus will be on how art works in practice. We will think about how the Greeks and Romans engaged with the art around them and also how the modern world has tried to make sense of it. In this unit we'll look at a range of different types of art - from sculpture to vase painting and mosaic work. We'll also think about putting this art into context.
