The unit aims to develop an understanding of some of the issues of information security and the techniques for addressing them. This unit will introduce students to the role of designing security issues into application from the ground up. Explaining the role of secure operating systems, authentication mechanisms, defensive programming etc. The unit will go on to discuss how information can always leak, and how this can be exploited by both the attacker and the defender.
