Description including Unit Aims

This unit provides an introduction to British Sign Language. Students will learn basic sign language receptive and expressive skills. This course will introduce students to the importance of the use of linguistic aspects, fundamental to the grammatical structure of British Sign Language. Topics covered will include the use of space, verb inflections, proforms, fingerspelling, negations and non-manual features, and the structure of language including the use of questions, nouns, verbs and adjectives.
