Description including Unit Aims

The unit will review different methodological approaches in sign language research and prepare students to become active researchers in the sign linguistics field. In this regard, research ethics, data collection, cooperation with informants, data analysis, transcription methods including ELAN and HamNoSys will be reviewed. In addition, theoretical issues for data analysis will be addressed. Dissemination of research findings to the scientific and Deaf communities through presentations and publications will be examined. Finally, the unit will explore different ways to address the needs of the scientific and Deaf communities.
