The lectures and seminars in this unit will be given by practitioners working in the real-world science & policy interface, contributing to the development of the policies that make up society&s response to climate change. Scientists whose research feeds into the policy domain and policy people who rely on scientific evidence for their decision-making will discuss the challenges they face. The unit will explore operational questions of interdisciplinary working, and it will show how scientific research is translated for policy makers, how policy needs are communicated to scientists, how research funders may operate as bridging and facilitating mechanisms, and how the process of engagement between science and policy stakeholders in contemporary global change issues is developing at present.
