This unit will provide participants with an understanding of the theories and frameworks which underpin approaches to learning and to learning how to learn, and concepts of learning power. It will explore the links between personal and social development and learning, and the ways in which learning can be enhanced in classrooms and communities through the culture and practices of teachers and leaders. In particular it will focus on the notion of an $ecology of learning& and will explore links with teacher practices, school climate, citizenship education, emotional literacy and professional learning. These topics will be considered in the context of local, national and global policy and participants will be invited to reflect on specific lifelong learning issues in the organisations with which they are familiar.
