This fourth year unit builds on the 3rd year unit, in developing your knowledge of building engineering systems from an appreciation of the broad principles to an ability to design and develop the systems themselves. It will provide tuition in the design methods for building fabric performance, insulation, heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, sizing methods for pipe and duct systems, and the incorporation of renewable energy generation systems. The module will also deal with complementary subjects such as acoustics and fire engineering.
