The Dissertation presents an opportunity for prolonged study of a topic of your choice which links the two disciplines of your Joint School. The dissertation is an essay of 6,500 to 8,000 words (including quotations and notes, excluding bibliography) on a subject of a student's choice that has been agreed by the Unit Director. Students choosing to write a dissertation will meet regularly with an adviser for discussion of preparatory reading and research, work in progress, and drafts, etc.
