Description including Unit Aims

This unit examines the diversity of the Romance languages and the factors which led to their creation from their common ancestor Latin, considering patterns of external and internal change. Some familiarity will be acquired with major concepts of general and historical linguistics. * Please note that you must have taken a linguistics unit in a previous year of study in order to qualify for consideration for this unit.
