An intensive introduction to Japanese for students registered on the Msc East Asian Studies. The unit focuses on the general structures and functions of the language and includes practice in the four skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) in order to enable students to communicate effectively in the target language at an elementary level. The unit will also include general communication skills, grammar foundation, general vocabulary development; an introduction to understanding and using Japanese characters, listening and speaking skills, social skill as well as the cultural and social aspects of the Japanese language.
