Description including Unit Aims

This unit will develop a contextual approach to understanding crime, criminal law and criminal process. Topics on which it may focus are: the definition, measurement and perception of crime; the criminal justice system (policing, prosecution, trials, sentencing, appeals); the structure of criminal liability (including inchoate offences, complicity and defences); violent offences, sexual offences, homicide, property offences, corporate crime, health and safety law; the law of evidence in criminal cases.
