Description including Unit Aims

This unit provides 1. an introduction to the theology, scope and practice of Christian mission in the light of the mission of Jesus and his Kingdom. 2. lays foundations for student commitment to the principle of holistic mission in the context of local church. 3. an opportunity to examine the definition of mission as essentially God's mission in the context of the local church. 4. a survey of the history of mission and the historical developments of models of contextual mission within the major Christian traditions. 5. a brief overview of contemporary challenges to Christian mission in a global context, especially in relation to issues of justice, the environment and other faiths.
