This unit examines the origins and development of Daoism, including the influence of early texts like the Laozi and the Zhuangzi, but with a focus on the Daoist religion from medieval to modern times. It sets out to understand the key terms, rituals, concepts and figures of Daoism, and to reflect on the place of Daoism in Chinese religion as a whole.
