Description including Unit Aims

The unit consists of four parts: 1. The human need for salvation is approached via an analysis of human nature, sin and grace. 2. The doctrine of the atonement. Students will study Christian belief about the work of Christ by engaging with the most influential models of atonement and the contributions of particular theologians who represent each view. 3. Christology. Doctrinal formulation on the person of Christ as $fully God and fully man& will be explored by encouraging a dialogue between patristic theology and modern theologians such as Schleiermacher, Barth and Moltmann. Due consideration will be given to the historical and cultural context out of which each particular contribution develops. 4. The trinitarian implications of the person and work of Christ are explored.
