Adults influence and shape the next generation. This unit addresses urgent questions that face the Western church, such as: 1. What does the current decline of Western christianity tell us about its failure to take adult formation seriously? 2. What is the appropriate Christian response to those who reject the church, but claim to follow Christ? 3. What dilemmas and questions are produced for adult Christians by the continuous and rapid changes in society? 4. What should responsible Christian living look like in such a changing world? This unit examines 1. the role adults play in cultivating faith in the church and the world 2. how to develop effective disciple-making through corporate spiritual formation and mission 3. the response of the 'emerging church' movement and of 'kingdom-focused spirituality' to the changing world.
