This unit will enable students to understand what is needed to transition churches from concern about their own internal life towards being mission-orientated communities that transform the culture around them. We will examine the qualities and systems that enable the development of healthy missional churches. Particular attention will be paid to vision-setting, managing change and dealing with conflict. Emphasis will be placed on the leader's own character, professional development and conduct. Material on both leadership and management will be drawn from both Christian and secular sources, including Myers Briggs and Belbin. As students understand their own personaliities and giftings, they will learn how best to contribute to the teams which they are part of, and how to construct and empower effective teams. This unit will help students both to develop their own leadership capabilities and also to release leadership gifts with others.
