The unit will cover the important area of the productive lexicon and metaphors in BSL. The use of the productive lexicon, use of metaphors and the use of role shift will be considered in depth, and students will learn to use them and understand them in extended sign narratives. Students will be familiarised with the tasks of summarising, re-phrasing and memorising in BSL and will be encouraged to develop the ability to critically examine their own performance in BSL production.
